Your city hotel in the historical center of Bolzano
A building with tradition in Bolzano
Historic walls and individual comfort combine in the Luna Mondschein Parkhotel to create a unique atmosphere. Documents show that is was first referred to as “Taverna Manschein” in the Middle Ages, making the Luna Mondschein one of the oldest inns in South Tyrol. Warm hospitality is of paramount importance here. In 1789, the Mayr family acquired the building that their descendants run as the Luna Mondschein Parkhotel today, retaining the feel for its historical heritage.
A special gem is the annex connected to the hotel, which was the original building of the Mondschein Hotel. Its historic structure including arcades and vaults encourages relaxation especially for those who love old buildings. The beautifully decorated rooms offer wonderful panoramic views of the surrounding mountains, and the center of Bolzano/Bozen is right on the doorstep.
A green oasis in the middle of the provincial capital of South Tyrol
The Luna Mondschein Hotel lies in the center of the old town district of Bolzano/Bozen. If you walk through the vibrant pedestrian area, and through a medieval archway, you will find yourself in a large, lush park in the courtyard again. Between old trees, rose bushes and cypress trees, you can enjoy a relaxing breakfast there in summer and sit and relax after a day’s hiking. The hotel has direct access to a parking garage.
Bolzano/Bozen has more cultural treasures, gems and sights than many. The city museums are the archives for these finds and attractions. They tell the history of a city that boasts of a millennia-old history of settlement and civilization: in the South Tyrol Museum of Archaeology in Bolzano, you can marvel over Ötzi, the 5,000 year old glacier ice man. Other museums such as the city’s Museum of Natural History and numerous galleries, have a variety of exhibits of regional and contemporary history.
The city of Bolzano with its medieval streets and arcades around the fruit market, is also worth seeing; evidence of 800 years of commercial activity of the city on the Talfer river. Today, a few steps away from Luna Mondschein Hotel, is the trendiest street in Bolzano, with its numerous pubs, bars and restaurants. The most modern facility in the city is the Museion Museum, which exhibits contemporary art from around the world.
There are also cultural sites to see around Bolzano, such as the Gummer observatory or Reinhold Messner’s MMM mountain museum at Sigmundskron Castle, which specializes in the history of mountaineering, as well as numerous castles and hiking trails with spectacular views.
